summerti-ime....

And the running is killing me!
I've found that if I'm not done BY 9am, I get the pukey feeling, cos it gets hot then.
I'm looking back over my runs, and found out I've managed to justify missing more than I thought. That's got to stop, really, it's not that hard! Good run this morning, kept on the shady street and then the open field at Lake Trail ruined me. I walked twice, and wanted to puke. 4k. God, that's all, it felt like 20, back when I could manage 20. Yipes! The heat sucks, what I would give for a personal sprinkler system! Hmmm, I could work on that...

the Aowes

So.
Last night I couldn't walk without a lot of support. The night before, my left thigh and knee went numb as I was laying on my back, but I ignored that, it's done it before. Couldn't ignore last night's aowes, though. The only cane-like device I've got left is my baseball bat, and it is fitting that I use that, since I am so totally angry that I am still not fixed. Good thing the pain only arrives at the end of the day, so I'm not totally ruined. I'm grateful that it is minimal in the mornings, and I can still take my run. Definitely need to step up the physio.
Today's was a really good run. I took note of the bruisy feeling above my pelvis on my back, sort of a back/bum bruise. I kept a nice and easy slower pace, it says today's is steady, so no record breakers here. I started at 9. Still a little late. I have never felt so sweaty! But not until I stopped. Then it pooled around the sides of my nostrils, a place I have never felt sweat gathering before today! Ha! I remembered that it's been a month and a half since I've been running, and I haven't done any significant exercise in between, so this is the first good opportunity for my body to id itself of toxins in a long while...go body!
SO now I have to really work my physio all the way, no half stepping today, I should know: Half measures availed us nothing...isn't that how it goes?

humidity

Today's 3k went fine. I don't remember much of it as it was overshadowed by how disgracefully sweaty I became upon finishing it. It was gross! I guess 9:30 is too late to start a run these days. How different it is, running in the summertime! I stretched-halfway- today...need to get on that. My back is fucked by the end of my workday right now. Stretching is the only way around it that I've found, so I must remember to use the pain detour! Stretch!

I went faster than yesterday without struggling. 19:02 instead of 20:19!

111 days to go!

Okay, this morning worked out well.
I woke up early, before the heat, had a cup of coffee, and went out to run.
Just a short trip, a 3k out around the field at Lake Trail School and back. No pukey feelings, no headaches.
Today is the true day 1 of 112 days of training leading up to the Royal Victoria Marathon on 10.10.10. On my way there, I will be participating in the Terry Fox run here in Comox as well sometime in September and I hope to be setting up some sort of fundraising device before then.
I am not excited about training through the heat of July and August, but I'm glad that it isn't here yet, and I will just have to take it as it comes.
Today I'm going to talk to the vitamin people at Marigold down the street, I hope to be able to sort out these headaches I've been living with these past three weeks, and get straight on what my body really needs in order to successfully continue on my running mission.
I also need a new pair of runners!

I am looking forward to the highs, the feeling great about myself and my accomplishments, and I'll accept the inevitable lows that come with that, in order to balance out all the good stuff coming my way.
Here comes another marathon!!

headaches

Well, that's my excuse for the day.
I'm not sure if its the vitamin combo, or what, but for three days straight, I got some nasty headaches. The first one followed my 3k run on Thursday, at noon, in the heat of the day. I chalked it up to that, the heat. The next I got out of nowhere on Friday as I was trying to get my work done. I kind of added that to the new to the heat exposure club. When I got one again on Saturday, I ate a bunch of Advil, took a nap, and decided to not take these pills again until I spoke to a professional.
I haven't gone for another run yet. Am I afraid of the headaches? Yes, a little. And I have to say, I've been celebrating the first days of summer we've seen here in the Northwest this year. It's a celebration, bitches, and I am all in! So , now that the heat craze is wearing off, and the clouds are returning, I am ready to go run again. I have yet to speak to the vitamin man about my new combo, though, and I should get on that since I think it has become mandatory to have some preventative kind of medicine to get me through this summer's training.

Jumping right back in

Wow, it's a lot warmer than it was when I first began my mission in January. Capris and a tank top is too much clothing for an overcast 13 degree morning! I went, I didn't stop, except to turn around, and to take four strides while waiting to cross the one street both times. Took the tracks to 17th and back. My right ankle felt a little wobbly, no knee pain. Overall, that went great! Feels good to be out there again. I'm covered in a sheen of good sweat, and want to do some sttches before I get out there to mow like crazy for the rest of the day. Yeah!

enough time out

I'm ready. Let's get back onto this. I'm going to get out there this week and get back into it.
I am about to commence training for the Royal Victoria Marathon on Oct.10th2010.
I was going to wait until the 20th, but I can't. Shit. I can't wait to get back into the routine and the good feelings. I'll be adding to my regiment this time some age appropriate supplemental vitamins and minerals that have been recommended to me, including Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Glucosamine, and the ever magical Devil's Claw for pain management.
I will not be altering what I eat, and look forward to all the chocolate! I am going to follow the same 18 week program as I did before, only I'm doing the first week three times, since I'm starting early.
I'm looking forward to another finish line!
